April 2 | Sex, Shopping & Self

Consumerism, body image, eating disorders, and sexual orientation will be the subjects of a Center for Ethics dialogue between popular author Naomi Wolf and television personality Carson Kressley on April 2. The dialogue will be moderated by Rev. Bridgette Young, Associate Dean of the Religious Life Program.

Naomi Wolf is best known for her first book, The Beauty Myth, an international bestseller. Wolf is co-founder of The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, an organization devoted to training young women in ethical leadership for the 21st century. The institute teaches professional development in the arts and media, politics and law, business and entrepreneurship as well as ethical decision making.

Carson Kressley leads the "Fab Five" on Bravo's breakout success, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." The show features a crew of five gay men who give a hapless straight man a crash course in knowledge of food and wine, grooming, interior design, fashion and culture. Kressley graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Gettysburg College with degrees in finance and fine art, and he spent many years working with Polo Ralph Lauren specializing in the design aspect of the men's sportswear division.

The event takes place 7pm in the Cox Hall Ballroom. Free tickets are required and are available via the DUC Ticket Office at (404) 727-8425. Cosponsors include the Emory Counseling Center, the Center for Women, the Mental Health Anti-Stigma Campaign, and the Office of Religious Life.
