Senior Program Associate
Deborah K. Cruze is the Senior Program Associate in Health Sciences and Ethics. She is co-director of the Bioethics Consultation Service and provides her expertise in health care ethics to Atlanta area hospital ethics committees. She teaches in the Master in Bioethics program and coordinates workshops and the annual conference for the Health Care Ethics Consortium of Georgia. She holds a B.S. (Summa cum laude) from Northern Arizona University, a J. D. from the Sandra Day O’Conner School of Law at Arizona State University and a M.A. in Bioethics (2001 inaugural class) from Midwestern University, where she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in Bioethics. Deborah is a member of the Arizona Bar Association and served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Arizona prior to her appointment to the bench as a City Judge for the City of Glendale, Arizona. She completed a post-doc clinical ethics fellowship at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and was the first clinical ethicist to serve at Grady Health System in Atlanta. She has presented at conferences and published in the areas of informed consent, the intersection of law and ethics, conflict of interest and ethics consultation.
