Tuition and Fees

The cost of attending Emory University includes tuition and academic fees, living expenses, health insurance, parking fees, and incidentals such as the purchase of textbooks and supplies. All tuition and fees are determined by the Board of Trustees and are subject to change without notice.

Tuition and Academic Fees

For the academic year 2022-23, tuition for full-time registration for 9 or more credit hours is $22,900 per semester.

Students registered for less than 9 credit hours per semester are classified as part-time and are charged $2,433 per credit hour. Full-time is based on 9 hours per semester during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Students are responsible for all tuition and fees as determined by Laney Graduate School. Note that failure to register in a timely fashion may result in late fees being assessed. Additionally, failure to drop classes in a timely fashion, or withdrawing for a semester, may also result in the forfeiture of tuition and fees.

Additional information about the tuition and fees for the Master of Arts in Bioethics program can be found on the Laney Graduate School’s Tuition and Fees page.

Financial Aid & Outside Resources

The Center for Ethics and the MA-Bioethics program offers a variety of financial aid resources. We have research assistantships and a limited number of scholaships available. For students who are also current Emory employees, courtesy scholarships may be available to you and employees of the Centers for Disease Control are eligible for discounted tuition through the Department of Health and Human Services University Partnership Program.

Many bioethics students take advantage of the variety of loans available through Emory's Financial Aid Office. Students can borrow up to the budgeted cost of attendance less any scholarships, and loans are available for both domestic and international students. Formoreinformation about student loans and how to apply, please visit Emory's Office of Financial Aid website or contact 404-727-6039.

Federal financial aid is also available in the form of low interest and interest-deferred loans. To receive the most favorable student loan, the Emory Office of Financial Aid recommends that you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible.

A number of scholarships are also available to graduate students from private organizations, industry associations, school and fraternal alumni associations, and foundations. Useful online scholarship search resources include FinAid, FastWeb, Scholarships.com, and Peterson's.

Scholarships

Emory’s MA in Bioethics program offers student scholarships for qualified applications on their aptitude and potential for future leadership in bioethics (including but not limited to leadership in clinical practice, education, health policy, research and public engagement). These scholarships are administered as a partial tuition waiver.

All applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships; no additional application is required. Scholarship recipients will receive notification of their awards along with their admission decision.
